The science behind this ancient practice has been inspiring Dr. Robert J. Lang for more than 50 years. As one of the world’s leading origami masters, he has shown that innovative solutions to engineering challenges—from air-bag design to expandable space telescopes—can be found in the principles of origami. Join Lang for a lecture about how origami changed in the 20th century from a simple craft to an art form of mind-blowing complexity and realism. The algorithms and theorems of origami design have shed light on longstanding mathematical questions and have solved practical engineering problems. The lecture will be followed by an origami folding workshop.

This lecture is geared for high school or above and seating is limited.

This program is presented in partnership with Scripps Presents.
