You may not care what botanical structure in inch-deep in your leg during the heat of the moment, but in this pain-free workshop, you'll learn all about the origins, functions and distinct structures of battle-ready plants! This workshop with Cactaceae expert Mark Porter, PhD, will include an interactive tour of the Game of Thorns exhibition and a discussion on the prickly, thorny and spiny plants that make our world painfully fun.

Please note that if you arrive earlier than half an hour prior to the talk you will be asked to also purchase regular garden admission.


Education Classes Refund Policy

In the case that a fee-based class or workshop is cancelled, Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden will refund the full (100%) payment. 

If a registered and paid participant withdraws from the class 72 hours or more prior to the beginning of the event, class, or workshop a full refund will be issued. 

If a registered and paid participant withdraws more than 24 hours but less than 72 hours before the beginning of the class, event, or workshop a 50% refund will be issued. 

If a registered and paid participant withdraws less than 24 hours before the class, or is a ‘no-show’ on the day of the event, class, or workshop, no refund will be issued.

This Refund Policy applies to all classes requiring payment.
