Get ready for an epic and utterly delicious fusion of California native plants and ice cream for our first-ever Freeze Wild virtual tasting event! California Botanic Garden has partnered with Bert & Rocky's Cream Company in Claremont to create three unique flavors of ice cream that speak to the true flavors of California. This summer, cool off with these one-of-a-kind ice creams made with the plants that define our home, including:

• Coyote Mint Chip: taste the breezy mint of our Monardella species against the luscious, irresistible backdrop of double chocolate chip ice cream
• Coastal Sage Yum: vanilla has never been more daring with this intoxicating addition of Cleveland sage; you won't be able to go back!
• Cactus Cream: this desert dessert celebrates the hot-pink fruits of prickly pear, a surprisingly elegant flavor with melon-like notes

Event registrants will be able to pick up a custom box containing pints of these three remarkable flavors made with native plants.

At the virtual event on Thursday, July 30 from 6 pm - 7 pm we will delight in each ice cream, introducing the recipe and ingredients. California Botanic Garden staff will share the ecological importance of each species and how you can include these plants in your home garden.

Pickup of boxes is available at California Botanic Garden. We will contact all event registrants and schedule a pickup time on Wednesday and Thursday, July 29 and July 30. When you arrive for your pickup reservation, staff will direct you to a parking bay where your bakery box will be located. Physical distancing guidelines will be followed.

Once you register for this event, staff will contact you to confirm your order and pickup details. A few days before the virtual tasting event, you will be sent Zoom event information. It is advisable that you learn how to use Zoom before this event. We will also share a recording of the event afterwards, in case you prefer to watch at your own leisure.
