Pruning Techniques for California Native Plants

You’ve successfully planted and nurtured your new native plants into thriving, beautifully full plants, but what do you do when those plants become a little too unwieldy? Join us virtually on Saturday, January 23 at 11 am to learn some tips and tricks for how to prune and shape your native plants when the time comes. By pruning you will stimulate plants to make fresh growth, thus keeping them youthful looking and, often, flowering more abundantly. Guided by Ashlee Armstrong, Grounds Manager at CalBG, you will gain insight into the objectives of pruning, techniques for pruning perennial shrubs, subshrubs, and small trees, what tools to use, and general pruning timelines for common native plants. We hope you will walk away with the confidence to tackle even the most daunting of pruning tasks that may await you.
